It is important to accept what has happened.   Emotions are usually critical at such times.   Recognizing their presence is important in making you feel better.

Feeling too much grief can push someone to do things they should not be doing.   Those are usually poor coping mechanisms.   There are those who overwork so that they do not feel anything.   Others end up turning to substance abuse.   They need to be shown what to do in such times, so that they are not consumed by their grief and loss.
